Alma 46:12–13, 16

12 And it came to pass that he  [Moroni] rent his coat; and he took a piece thereof, and wrote upon it—In memory of our God, our religion, and freedom, and our peace, our wives, and our children—and he fastened it upon the end of a pole.

13 … and he bowed himself to the earth, and he prayed mightily unto his God for the blessings of liberty to rest upon his brethren, so long as there should a band of Christians remain to possess the land—

16 And therefore, at this time, Moroni prayed that the cause of the Christians, and the freedom of the land might be favored.

As I read Alma 46 today about the Moroni and the Title of Liberty, it struck me again how this is our battle today.

Just like Moroni, we fight for the cause of Christ. It’s the cause of God, religion, freedom, peace, and family.

Sister Julie B. Beck, former Relief Society general president once taught, “Any doctrine or principle our youth hear from the world that is antifamily is also anti-Christ. It’s that clear. If our youth cease to believe in the righteous traditions of their fathers as did the people described in Mosiah 26, if our youth don’t understand their part in the plan, they could be led away” (“Teaching the Doctrine of the Family,” Aug. 2009).

Moroni stood firmly against the flattering words of Amalickiah and his clear disdain for freedom and family. And just as Sister Beck said, anything that is anti-family is anti-Christ.

The cause of Christ is family. That’s His express purpose—to gather and seal God’s family and perpetuate the family unit into eternity.

Now, more than ever, we need to stand firm like Moroni and fight for the cause of Christ and the cause of family. Otherwise, as the Savior taught, the world would be utterly wasted at His coming.
