3 Nephi 20:26

The Father having raised me up unto you first, and sent me to bless you in turning away every one of you from his iniquities; and this because ye are the children of the covenant—

I’ve been doing a quick read through of the Book of Mormon this last month, looking specifically for mention of “the covenant.”

It’s been enlightening. The Book of Mormon is filled with reminders that we are covenant children, which affords us great blessings if we will but accept them.

I especially love this promise from the Savior. Because we are bound in the covenant, He has the power to turn us from our iniquities. Even in our choosing to come, it’s His power that turns us.

I love the power and promise of being covenant children. And that covenant is not bound by bloodline. It is strictly bound by righteousness, our choosing to repent.

It’s the most powerful binding on earth and in heaven. And we get to claim it as a blessing.
