Daily Scripture

1 Samuel 2:3, 9–10

3 Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the Lord is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.

9 He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.

10 The adversaries of the Lord shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall he thunder upon them: the Lord shall judge the ends of the earth; and he shall give strength unto his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed.

I love the reminders in these verses.

All that we do and are comes from the Lord. He is our light in the darkness. He keeps our feet. He is the God of knowledge and He will judge each of us according to our works.

To those who choose their own way, their own wisdom, their own strength, that can be stifling because it’s darkness. I wouldn’t particularly care to have the Savior come like thunder to break me into pieces with His judgment.

But to those who let Him lead, the promise is a comfort. If we are allowing Him to keep our feet, then our acts should reflect Him. Of course we won’t be perfect at it. We have a long way to go on that path.

But if we let Him keep our feet, He will continue to course correct until we stand before Him. And the experience will be more love filled than fearful.
