Matthew 3:17; Matthew 4:3

Matthew 3:17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Matthew 4:3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God ….

Look at this interesting interchange for the Savior.

Immediately following Jesus’ baptism, the Father confirms His divine status as the Son of God.

But soon after (right after the Savior has had a spiritually uplifting but physically demanding experience fasting in the wilderness for 40 days), Satan comes and says IF you’re the son of God, then …, questioning Who He is.

How often does he do that to us? We have experiences where the Holy Ghost confirms who we are as children of God with divine potential. But then other comments start to creep in, either from Satan or other people, and we begin to doubt who we are and what we can accomplish.

We can learn much from the Savior’s response.
