Daily Scripture

Isaiah 42:16

And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.

Another comfort scripture this morning.

The scriptures, in general, truly are a two-edged sword. To the wicked and ungodly, they are filled with warning, displeasure, correction, condemnation, and destruction. Just two verses before in this same chapter, when speaking to the wicked, the Lord said, “I have long time holden my peace; I have been still, and refrained myself: now will I cry like a travailing woman; I will destroy and devour at once” (vs 14). In other words, I’ve withheld judgment for you to come and repent. But there will come a day, soon, when my waiting is over.

But to the righteous (and notice, it’s not to the perfect. But to those who repent and keep coming and choosing Him), He offers peace.

He offers to lead the blind (that’s us very often as we can’t see the road ahead). He takes us in directions we don’t know, haven’t thought of, or are out of our understanding. But He knows them and has designed them for us. He makes darkness light and crooked things straight. And, most comforting, He won’t forsake us.

Despite my blindness and my weakness and my many mistakes, I always choose Him—every hour of every day—because I know in Him is safety and light.
