1 Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the Lord!
3 Now the Egyptians are men, and not God; and their horses flesh, and not spirit. When the Lord shall stretch out his hand, both he that helpeth shall fall, and he that is holpen shall fall down, and they all shall fail together.
Thinking a lot about this principle today. In these verses, Isaiah is counseling the children of Israel to not put their trust in man for protection. In this case, it was looking for help from Egypt.
Instead, he warns that we must put our trust alone in God.
It can be really easy to trust in money, job security, other people, education, etc. But when we put our trust in any other thing and not God, we fail.
It’s a great reminder to acknowledge our true power is only in God and let go of our dependence on whatever else might be blinding us.
