20 Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast.
21 For, behold, the Lord cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.
I love the imagery of these verses. There will come a time when the Lord’s anger will be unleashed on the wicked. I think to some extent we see it now with natural disasters and nations warring against nations. He allows those things as a punishment. And there is more to come.
But IF we dedicate our homes to Him, they will be a refuge from the storm until it passes over. The Lord has not, nor will He ever, leave His children comfortless. When we turn to Him and seek His protection, He will cover us and protect us.
We can turn our homes more fully into places of refuge. We can listen to the prophet’s voice and heed his direction. We can teach and testify of gospel truth. We can study the scriptures with our families and pray often. We can invite the Spirit into our homes and our lives. We can be safe.
