18 And in that day will I make a covenant for them …
19 And I will betroth thee unto me for ever; yea, I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness, and in judgment, and in lovingkindness, and in mercies.
20 I will even betroth thee unto me in faithfulness: and thou shalt know the Lord.
I love how the Lord describes the covenant He makes with His people as a marriage covenant, full of love. His people (the wife) act the harlot and chase after other gods (something relevant to our day), but He, in loving compassion, will take back His people when they turn back to Him.
It’s an intimate love. It’s more than a business deal between two parties. It’s a perfect love that encircles and embraces.
In moments when I feel alone or forgotten, I remember that He loves me. He wants me to be His. His love is pure and long suffering and ever inviting me back.
