Ether 6:4

And it came to pass that when they had prepared all manner of food, that thereby they might subsist upon the water, and also food for their flocks and herds, and whatsoever beast or animal or fowl that they should carry with them—and it came to pass that when they had done all these things they got aboard of their vessels or barges, and set forth into the sea, commending themselves unto the Lord their God.

This is our working relationship with God while in mortality, especially when we face the unknown as the Jaredites did.

1. We prepare. We work hard to do all within our power to go forward. We prepare physically and spiritually to face to the road ahead.

2. Then we trust a God. We commend ourselves unto Him and let go. We believe that whatever changes come will lead to good things—our promised land.

It’s worth remembering that their journey was long, scary, uncertain, and often dark. But after they prepared, they gave themselves over to God and let Him guide and care for them.

And God delivered.
