Ether 3:13, 20

13 … Because thou knowest these things ye are redeemed from the fall; therefore ye are brought back into my presence; therefore I show myself unto you.

20 Wherefore, having this perfect knowledge of God, he could not be kept from within the veil; therefore he saw Jesus; and he did minister unto him.

Thinking recently about the correlation between knowledge and power. When our knowledge of truth increases (and that’s the key—it has to be centered on God’s truth, not man’s interpretation of truth), we have access to God’s power.

The brother of Jared, through exceeding faith, qualified for greater knowledge and understanding of God. That knowledge, in turn, gave him access to the power to see within the veil.

The wording of these verses is instructive. Because he knew, he was redeemed. And because of his perfect knowledge, he gained access to the Lord and was ministered to by Him.

In all the things we do, then, we should be focused on gaining knowledge. Certainly, knowledge of God. But I also think knowledge (truth) in general, which all comes from God.

Knowledge gives us access to God’s power. It’s not for worldly gain (like the type of power the adversary entices us with), but godly power to access Christ and His Atonement to enter His presence.
