And thou shalt remember all the way which the Lord thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.
It is sometimes tempting to think that as part of our mortal experience, the Lord just leaves us alone to figure things out. As if that’s the test—just doing things by ourselves and being separated from God.
But in reality, He is carefully watching and planning our progress. There is NEVER a moment when He doesn’t know what we are facing, feeling, or struggling with. He gives us these experiences so WE can know our own hearts and prove whether we will give them to Him.
He crafts our experience here for our growth. He wants to know if, in all the circumstances, we will turn to Him and keep His commandments.
We aren’t alone. But we alone can prove our hearts to Him. He’s anxiously waiting to rejoice with us when we return, successful in our offering and our becoming.
