Behold, the field was ripe, and blessed are ye, for ye did thrust in the sickle, and did reap with your might, yea, all the day long did ye labor; and behold the number of your sheaves! And they shall be gathered into the garners, that they are not wasted.
I love the final idea in this verse of gathering into the garners.
Missionary work is essential in God’s plan. The work starts in our own hearts with our own conversion and then circles out to those we teach.
But the work for any of us is not complete until the gathering in the garners. It’s temple imagery. Until we and all those who are converted have entered temple covenants and been secured to the Savior, the harvest isn’t complete. Being gathered into garners provides the protection for the wheat.
Safety (salvation) comes through the covenants that bind us to Christ, just like it says in Mosiah 5:15. “Therefore, I would that ye should be steadfast and immovable, always abounding in good works, that Christ, the Lord God Omnipotent, may seal you his, that you may be brought to heaven, that ye may have everlasting salvation and eternal life, through the wisdom, and power, and justice, and mercy of him who created all things, in heaven and in earth, who is God above all. Amen.”
