2 Chronicles 29:5, 10–11

5 And said unto them, Hear me, ye Levites, sanctify now yourselves, and sanctify the house of the Lord God of your fathers, and carry forth the filthiness out of the holy place.

10 Now it is in mine heart to make a covenant with the Lord God of Israel, that his fierce wrath may turn away from us.

11 My sons, be not now negligent: for the Lord hath chosen you to stand before him, to serve him, and that ye should minister unto him, and burn incense.

King Hezekiah is one of my favorite Old Testament kings. He came into power in a state of Judah’s wickedness. And he said to his people, we need to shape it up. He commanded them to cleanse the temple and get it back into worship form.

I like these verses because they are a call to Judah (and to us) to sanctify themselves to be worthy for temple service and covenant making.

The same applies to us. We need temple worship. It’s not enough to have or have had a temple recommend. We need to be attending often to be filled with God’s power.

It doesn’t matter where we are in our lives or what our schedules or other restraints look like. When we make our temple attendance a priority, we have the right to claim God’s power and protection.
