When I tried to decide how to describe myself in a few short words, three came to mind: Follower, Teacher, Writer.
First, I am a follower of Jesus Christ. The things I do, the choices I make, the way I see the world, and the person I am trying to become are all influenced by Jesus Christ and His gospel. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I know I fall short in so many ways as I try to follow Him. But the miracle of being a follower of Jesus Christ is that’s OK. Because of Him, I get to keep trying, keep repenting, and keep following.
I am also a teacher. Because I am a follower of Jesus Christ, I feel a strong pull to share what I know with others. It influences how I raise my children and how I interact with others. Among other teaching opportunities I have had in my life, I taught early morning seminary for five years and loved every minute of it. My hope is to get back to teaching seminary again someday.
I am a writer. Because I am a follower of Jesus Christ and a teacher of His gospel, I love to write what I believe. I graduated from Brigham Young University (what seems like) a million years ago with a Humanities/English Literature degree with an emphasis on writing. I have written for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for four years. Now I want to write what I believe here.
Like each of you, I am many others things. Some of my other titles include wife, mother, reader, dancer, runner, sleeper (because who doesn’t love sleep?), cleaner (I may not love it, but I do it!), and lover of happily ever afters.
I have been married to my husband for 26 years. Together we have four kids, ranging in age from 23 to 15. We have lived in lots of places since getting married–Utah, Arizona, Nebraska, Texas, Iowa, and back to Utah–and had some wonderful adventures.
In my spare time, I love to do group fitness dance classes or run on the treadmill. I also love to read, especially clean kissing books, which I do on the treadmill.
